Lauren Daigle says her song ‘You Say’ saved rape victim from suicide
Grammy-nominated Christian singer Lauren Daigle was the featured artist on “Good Morning America” Thursday where she revealed that her single helped a rape victim overcome suicidal thoughts.
“There was a girl the other day that said she was raped for 12 years or something and went to commit suicide like seven times, she just tried it,” Daigle told GMA host Ginger Zee before her performance on the show.
“The record (‘You Say’) pulled her out of that space she was in,” Daigle said, crediting the “power of music."

During the Facebook Live interview, the Louisiana native also talked about her favorite Christmas traditions, such as “eating shrimp and grits.”
“‘Little Drummer Boy’ I love the words of that song. I love ‘Oh Come Oh Ye Faithful and The Christmas Song’” Daigle said of her favorite Christmas songs.
She then took the GMA stage and passionately performed her hit Christian single “You Say” which is a song, she says, about owning one’s “identity.”
The 27 year old recently came under fire for comments she made in an interview on "The Domenick Nati Show" for iHeart radio. Daigle was asked about her stance, as a Christian, on homosexuality and whether it's a sin.
“I can’t honestly answer on that, in the sense of I have too many people that I love and they are homosexuals,” Daigle said on the show. “I can't say one way or the other, I’m not God. When people ask questions like that, I just say, ‘Read the Bible and find out for yourself. And when you find out let me know because I’m learning too.’”
Her comments caused an uproar in the Christian community and many challenged the singer's assertion by sharing Bible verses that say same-sex relationships are sinful. But others slammed Nati for even asking such a provocative question.
Daigle was unfazed by the negative backlash and has been on her "Behold Christmas" tour.
Her latest album Look Up Child debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart following its release in September, beating out popular secular musicians such as Drake, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Cardi B that week.
