Lauren Scruggs Praises God for Healing and Restoration on Anniversary of Losing Arm and Eye
Scruggs Gives Full Credit for Healing to God
Model Lauren Scruggs' life changed drastically one year ago when she walked into the propeller of a plane and lost her left arm and eye. Now Scruggs is speaking out about how exactly her life has changed and credits God with her restoration.
"I think it's just amazing to watch how the Lord has restored me and healed my body in such a short amount of time and miraculous things," Scruggs said in an interview with E! Online. "God has a different plan and often times it is shocking and unexpected."
"I am seeing that this life is way bigger than me and I think that a lot of things that I held important earlier, even in my career, were quite shallow and I just want to use what I have been through to talk to young girls and let them know that our appearance is not what defines us. Even just insecurities that we may not hold onto do not define us," Scruggs continued.
The 24-year-old has been through a lot in the past year, receiving an artificial eye and prosthetic arm that allows her to maintain some sense of normalcy. But that is not what Scruggs is about these days; she wants to instead help other young women who may struggle with their self-confidence or self-worth.
"I think [God] has called me to just be open about what I have been through and to be vulnerable even though it's something that I wouldn't have personally chosen for myself. It just shows that God has a different plan and often times it is shocking and unexpected but it's still something really beautiful and I want to use that," she explained.
Scruggs has not been shy about her ordeal; she made her first public appearance after the accident on the "Today" show only eight months after.
"Emotionally, days are hard sometimes just accepting the loss of my eye and hand," she told Savannah Guthrie, "but it just gets better and I realize God's in control of my life and there's a purpose to this story."
