'LawBreakers' Gameplay News: Devs Release Patch 1.3 With New Contents and Gameplay Features

This week, independent game developer Boss Key Productions finally released patch 1.3 for their game "LawBreakers" and gave players a new map variant as well as an array of new gameplay features.

"LawBreakers" is a team-based, first-person shooter released on Aug. 8 for the PlayStation 4 and PC. It was directed by renowned game developer Cliff Bleszinski.

Aside from the game fixes and improvements, the developers have added a new map variant for free. In patch 1.3, Boss Key added a nighttime variant of the Promenade map so players could experience the location in the dark.

Promenade was one of the maps introduced during the game's launch. As the name suggests, it is primarily an outside mall with several other attractions such as a Ferris Wheel, a beachfront area, and a place where people had an unblocked view of the city's landscape.

One of the highlighted changes that patch 1.3 brought to the game was the increase in the role limits in Quick Play. In "LawBreakers," players can choose their preferred "role" which gives them their character's specific abilities and powers.

By changing the role limit to two, the developers are hoping "to increase the variety of gameplay you'll encounter, both in terms of enemy types you'll face as well as sometimes needing to switch off of your main role."

Boss Key further explained: "Our decision to set role limits to 2 is one we think will help inform development on Competitive Ranked as we continue to test it behind the scenes for future launch."

Patch 1.3's other new features include allowing kick decals to be imprinted as well as adding the XP Bonus Tracker in the main menu that shows players their active streaks and bonuses.

On the other hand, players will notice that patch 1.3 lacks role balance changes. However, Boss Key promised that they have some "major balance adjustments" in the pipeline "that need more time the in the testing-oven" before they can be released.

Unfortunately, players with patch 1.3 reported having issues with the weapon stickers after installing the update. Boss Key has acknowledged the problem and promised they are already working on it.

"LawBreakers" patch 1.3 is now out for free on PS4 and PC. Meanwhile, Boss Key has also released a detailed patch notes that players can check here.
