Lea Michele: Cory Monteith Was 'Best Person I Know'

Lea Michele and Cory Monteith were happy together before his untimely death. The actress gave a touching interview about their relationship just before he died.

Cory "is the best person I know. He has made my life so incredible, and I am so thankful for him and not only to have him as a partner but also as a co-worker. It's more interesting having a relationship with someone you work with because we get more attention because we play boyfriend and girlfriend on the show and we are also in real life," Michele told Marie Claire Mexico.

The two worked together for years on Fox's hit show "Glee." Even though it took some time, their characters eventually wound up together and were even considering marriage. While Michele and Monteith had not gotten that far in their relationship, they were apparently considering moving in together.

"It is important to have someone that supports you and encourages you, someone that makes you feel that you are unstoppable, that you can do anything in the world because you have him," Michele added.

Monteith then surprised everyone and showed up at Michele's interview and photo shoot. The editor-in-chief, Ariadne Grant, recalled that he was in "great spirits" and "took pictures with whoever asked for it." He stayed until Michele was finished and then the happy couple left together.

"They were going to move in together when he got back from Vancouver and she got back from Mexico," Cory's cousin, Richard, told Life & Style. "He was supposed to check out of the hotel and head back the day they found his body. I guess marriage would have been the next step."

Monteith passed away earlier this month as a result of a fatal combination of heroin and alcohol. He had struggled with abuse for years and had just been released from rehab when he overdosed. Michele has been with Monteith's family in the time since, helping them all cope with the loss.
