Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Specs Rumors Latest: Leaked Image Shows Device With Keyboard
An image of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge leaked online shows the upcoming smartphone sporting a physical keyboard.
Twitter user @evleaks, who's responsible for a number of first looks of yet-to-be-released mobile phones, released an image last Friday showing a physical keyboard appended to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
Appearing to be a clip-on accessory, the unexpected slider keyboard looks to be similar to the keyboards on Samsung's older model handsets such as the Galaxy Pro, complete with a back home and menu buttons at the bottom, and calls to mind the older BlackBerry devices and PDAs.
The keyboard in the image covers a quarter of the screen's lower end and extends over its sides to snap close at the back. The accessory is likely to increase the S6 Edge Plus' thickness at its bottom half.
While the concept of an add-on keyboard isn't new, it appears the South Korean electronics manufacturer believes there may be a market for an AMOLED touchscreen phone with a keyboard attached.
The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is due to be unveiled at Samsung's Unpacked event at the New York Lincoln Center where it will be revealing the Galaxy Note 5 together with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The event is slated to live streamed over YouTube, and mobile phone users will get their first official glance at Samsung's new products, and decide whether a clip-on attachment complement the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus' 5.7-inch display.
The keyboard attachment has already been posted on the website of Central Point, a Dutch retailer selling the accessory for 60 Euros ($65.60). The website also presented a listing of other accessories for the upcoming smartphone, including a Flip Wallet, a ClearView Cover, and a Glossy Cover.
While the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus keyboard will be sold separately, the Galaxy Note 5's S-Pen will be included in its purchase.
