Lebron James Belittles Reggie Evans After Heat Beat Nets
Lebron James and the Miami Heat bested the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night, but the reigning NBA champion also fired off against the opposing team's Reggie Evans after the game.
Evans discounted James 2012 NBA championship title when speaking to the New York Daily News about the Heat having an easier road to winning their rings during a lockout season.
"It doesn't prove nothing. That was a lockout season," Evans told the Daily News.
James wrote a cryptic tweet after the comments went public about being in a zone before contributing 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the 105-85 beating of the Nets.
"Just keep throwing rocks at the throne, don't matter cause nothing can break my zone," James tweet read.
After the Heat's victory, the 28-year-old Miami forward went on to speak about Evans' comments directly.
"You can't just come out and say something like that versus a champion," James said in an ESPN report. "No one knows what it takes unless you've done it. You can't sit here and judge and talk about a team winning a championship unless you've done it. (Evans) hasn't done it."
James then decided to take things a step further and criticize Evans' performance.
"Let me look at his numbers real quick- he had no offensive rebounds, so we did our number on him," James said.
Fans of both teams took to Twitter after witnessing the exchange and the game that followed.
"LeBron James: 24 pts, 9 reb, 7ast Reggie Evans: 0 pts, 6 reb, 0 ast & the Nets lost by 20. Next time Reggie, just don't say anything & play," one person tweeted.
Another person thought Evans was way out of line for addressing James in the manner that he did.
"LOL at Reggie Evans! What is he thinking!? You cant say that about @KingJames you just cant," the person tweeted.
Still, James said that he did not want to speak about Evans' too much because the opposing forward did not deserve the press that he would receive from the exchange.
"For what? I let my game do the talking," James said. "I'm not going to sit here and give Reggie Evans a lot of press, because that is what is going to happen for the next couple days."
