LeBron James News: 'King' James sets NBA record, describes the Golden State Warriors as the "most healthy team in NBA history"
Cleveland Cavaliers superstar forward LeBron James set a new NBA record last week. He also spoke about his thoughts on the hot-streaking Golden State Warriors.
In a report by ESPN, "King James" set himself within the ranks of NBA great Oscar Robertson for being one of the two players in league history to rank in the top 25 in both assists and points.
The said accomplishment was made during the Cavaliers' game against the Orlando Magic, marking the 6,387th assist over an 11-year professional basketball career. The Cavaliers ended up winning the game with a score of 117-103, and remain unbeaten at home, so far.
For James' part, while being compared with the sport's greatest is something to be proud of, he believes it should not be too much of a factor, at the same time.
"I think what we get caught up in, in our league too much, is trying to compare greats to greats, instead of just accepting and acknowledging and saying, 'Wow, these are just great players,'" he said. "I think in the NFL, when you talk about great quarterbacks, they don't really compare great quarterbacks."
"But when it comes to our sport, we're so eager to say, 'Who is better: Oscar or [Michael] Jordan?' or 'Jordan or LeBron or Kobe [Bryant] or these guys?' instead of just accepting greatness," he added. "And if you understand the history of the sport, then there is no way you could ever forget Oscar Robertson. This guy, he averaged a triple-double for, like, forever."
The 30-year old two-time NBA champion also had something to say about the undefeated defending champions Golden State Warriors. Led by reigning MVP Steph Curry, the Warriors are currently sitting on the top spot of the Western Conference standings with an unblemished slate of 15-0.
In another report by ESPN, James complimented the Warriors for a job well done, so far, and even went on to describe them as the "most healthy team in NBA history."
"They've been healthy," James said. "They've been the most healthy team I've ever seen in NBA history, and they have great talent. Those guys all play for one common goal and that's to win, and that's all that matters."
