Lebron James Prays for Fellow NBA Player Jrue Holiday After Wife's Brain Surgery
Even though they were rivals on the basketball court this week, Cleveland Cavaliers forward Lebron James has been praying for New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday, whose wife is recovering from brain surgery.
Last October Lauren Holiday, the 29-year-old former Olympic soccer star who took time away from her sport in 2015 to build a family with Jrue, underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor one month after the couple's first daughter was born. James heard the story and gave Jrue some kind words before the two NBA players faced off on their opposing teams Monday.
"When we heard about it, me and my family and my wife heard about it, we were in L.A. at the time in the offseason and we automatically had a prayer for her," James, the 32-year-old Cleveland star told ESPN. "This is a brotherhood, no matter if you're on the same team or not, our league is a fraternity. Any time someone's family is going through a situation like that, you just hope the greater God above is looking out for him."
Jrue, who is back on the court after missing 12 games to focus on his family this season, spoke about the blessing of James praying for his family.
"Obviously to him, family means more than anything. And the same thing for me," the 26-year-old Pelicans guard said in the ESPN report. "So, the fact that they've been praying and supporting my wife is a blessing to me. To know that this league and somebody of his caliber and the effect that he has on the game like he does can really have support for my family is awesome."
Holiday said his family is doing well, despite his trials.
"My wife is doing really well and she's gradually getting better, and that's all I can ask for. She's alive, and I'm blessed for that," he said. "My daughter is OK. So, I'm happy."
When the Holidays first announced their struggle with Lauren's brain tumor, they still maintained their faith in God. Jrue insisted that his wife's faith in Jesus Christ would help them overcome
"There is nothing in life my wife can't conquer with Jesus Christ in her corner," he previously tweeted."Thank you all so much for your support! God bless!"

Jrue insisted that his wife is remaining strong during the difficult process.
"Lauren has her good days and her bad days; some are better than others," Jrue told NOLA.com last year. "She's obviously a fighter, the toughest woman I know. That's the reason why I married her."
