LeBron James news: Wants 'Space Jam 2' to happen

LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers forward, is keen to carry forward the legacy of Space Jam and would love nothing more than seeing "Space Jam 2" happen.

There is no doubt that the 1996 film starring Michael Jordan and the adorable Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Tweety Bird is a worthy candidate for a sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, LeBron James said, after weeks of rumors, "We hope so. We're definitely missing Bugs and Daffy and Tasmanian Devil and every last one of them, so hopefully we can do some great things."

James has expressed his desire to make a sequel to the original cult film that had Michael Jordan teaming up with the Looney Tunes characters to defeat a team of aliens. The probability of making a sequel grew even more when his company, SpringHill Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Entertainment were able to reach an agreement.

Spring Hill co-founder Maverick Carter and Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara are excited to have LeBron James on board as a partner.

"The combination of LeBron's global media presence and Warner Bros.' unmatched production and distribution expertise is a big win for fans everywhere," Tsujihara said.

Not everyone feels that way though. Some people like the idea of a Space Jam sequel but are at odds as to whether James should be the star of the movie or even be in it. Some say Michael Jordan should be back in the title role. Others say it should be Kobe Bryant. But there are also others sticking with James.

The 1996 super hit "Space Jam" had Danny DeVito voicing for Swackhammer and all of the Looney Tune characters plus Michael Jordan. NBA superstars Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Larry Johnson, Shawn Bradley and Muggsy Bogues were also present with Bill Murray and Wayne Knight. It was a large, star-studded cast. The same could happen to the sequel although it's still too early to tell.

With no storyline or plot. we cannot guess what "Space Jam 2" may be about. But one can only hope to see James and Jordan together in one movie.
