Lee Thompson Young Death: Star Left No Suicide Note; 'Rizzoli & Isles' Shuts Down Production
Lee Thompson Young was found dead at his home yesterday; the 29-year-old actor allegedly committed suicide and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police have said that Young may have died as early as Saturday but was discovered yesterday after failing to report to work.
The "Rizzoli & Isles" star did not report to work on Monday morning, and the show's staff asked authorities to check in on him. When they did, they found Young's body and pronounced him dead at the scene. The news came as a shock to family, friends, and fans across the nation. To make matters worse, Young left no suicide note or indication that he was experiencing any trouble.
"It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning," his publicist told TMZ. "Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends at this very difficult time."
The show Young worked on, TNT's hit series "Rizzoli & Isles," has temporarily shut down production. Cast and crew are in shock and mourning the loss of their young co-star. The series is one of TNT's most popular, and Young worked alongside Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander.
"We're devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young," the show's Twitter account read yesterday. "Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him."
Other celebrities also paid tribute to the young star whose credits included "The Famous Jett Jackson," "Scrubs," and "FlashForward."
