'Legend Of Zelda' Wii U News: See Linkle In Action For The First Time
In November, Nintendo introduced Linkle, the long-awaited and much-speculated latest addition to the "Legend of Zelda" cast of characters. The new fighter, pegged as a female version of the video game's protagonist Link, has pigtails, wears a green hooded coat and a compass around her neck. She also wields two crossbows. Linkle, who is said to "come from a small village filled with Cuccos," is meant to be an exclusive character for "Hyrule Warriors Legends," the 3DS spinoff set to be released in North America on March 25, 2016.
Now, fans of "Legends of Zelda" can finally see Linkle in action in a new trailer for "Hyrule Warriors Legends." The game, a spinoff of "Hyrule Warriors" for the Wii U from 2014, sets characters from the "Legends of Zelda" universe against a number of huge, menacing enemies. The game is reminiscent of "Dynasty Warriors" and was, in fact, developed by the same company behind that game: Omega Force.
Linkle first appeared in a "Hyrule Warriors" art book in the summer of 2014, on a page featuring previously unseen characters. Though she didn't make the cut for the game, Linkle became popular soon after, becoming one of the most requested fighters during the open call for new playable characters.
Meanwhile, as "Legends of Zelda" fans await official news of its release date, a few have done some digging and uncovered what they believe to be an important bit of information about the game. YouTuber GameOver Jesse, along with eight other Nintendo fans, seem to have identified the book that Link was carrying in a Nintendo Direct footage released in November. According to the YouTuber and his fellow theorists, their findings suggest that the book, which they identified as the Book of Mudora, may play an important role in the 2016 Wii U title. They speculate that it could either replace the Bomber's Notebook or become a major element of the "Legend of Zelda" Wii U story.
"Legend of Zelda" for the Wii U is set for a 2016 release.
