'Legends of Tomorrow' News: Series to Feature Justice Society of America Next Season
While CW has long renewed "Legends of Tomorrow" at the earlier part of the year, fans of the superhero series may no longer get to see most of its original cast once the show returns for its second season run later this year. With the appearance of Hourman in the finale episode of the show last week, fans can now expect that the show's season two will feature the Justice Society of America once it kicks off.
In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "Legends of Tomorrow" executive producer Marc Guggenheim said that the final words of Patrick J. Adams' Rex Tyler/ Hourman in the finale episode of the show, where he introduced himself and his teammates in Justice Society of America is a major giveaway on what direction the show will have once it returns for its second season.
"For comic book fans, everyone knows the Justice Society is really the precursor to the Justice League, so it's a pretty big move in our DC universe here on TV," he said.
Interestingly, DC Comics Films focuses on Justice League of America and even has a "Justice League" movie that is currently being filmed in London, while its TV arm is bringing back the attention to the Justice Society, which is the first ever ensemble of superheroes in comic books.
Unlike Marvel, DC does not connect its TV series to its movies. Nonetheless, it is apparent now that the sophomore TV show will be ahead with its film counterpart in introducing the first team of superheroes.
According to Guggenheim, CW and DC have always been supportive of the move of the show of featuring the Justice Society of America beginning the second season of "Legends of Tomorrow." The producer revealed, though, that the studio's higher-ups, as well as those of the network, just can't help but marvel at the plan, asking him and his team on how they are going to pull it off, a question that even the executive producer himself cannot answer.
"We literally have no idea. But we'll figure out a way," would be the answer of Guggenheim and the rest of his "Legends of Tomorrow" team every time they are asked about how they would deliver the show with such a big gathering of superhero characters.
The Justice Society of America was originally composed of the Golden Age versions of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and many others. However, because of the many revisions of the team in terms of its members, it remains to be seen if "Legends of Tomorrow," will be the biggest live-action superhero series on TV, as per Comic Book.
As of this writing, apart from Hourman, it remains unknown who among the other members of Justice Society of America will be featured on the series.
