Lena Dunham Responds to Critics: 'I Will Show My Thighs Till I Die"
Lena Dunham, who recently just snagged a book deal worth millions, is not taking any flak from bloggers who have criticized her physical appearance.
The creator and star of "Girls" attended a recent event wearing a long shirt and a pair of barely-there shorts, which were mostly covered by her turquoise top. Dunham finished off the look with a pair of brown polka-dotted flats that were closer to sneakers than anything else.
Bloggers apparently had a field day with the looks, posting a number of negative comments about Dunham's fashion sense; some went as far as to criticize her body and physical appearance.
"Forget something, Lena Dunham?" Us Magazine asked, in response to the outfit, which she wore to LA Loves Alex's Lemonade Charity event in Culver City, Calif. on Saturday.
Dunham was quick to respond to the criticism.
"Last week I wore something to an event...a big top and little shorts, and a bunch of [blog posts] came out that I had been out without pants," she said at a New Yorker Festival. She criticized publications like Us magazine, suggesting that they were only offended by her outfit due to her weight.
"I don't think a girl with tiny thighs would have received such no-pants attention. I think what it really was...'Why did you all make us look at your thighs?'" she opined. "My response is, get used to it because I am going to live to be 100, and I am going to show my thighs every day till I die."
Dunham was also not alone. A number of her fans also responded to the same blog, attesting their appreciation of the actress.
"I wish everyone was like her. Confident, quirky, and intelligent," Amy said on the Us blog.
"She is a genius. she can do whatever she wants," Alicia added.
