Leslie Carter Mourned at 'Touching' Funeral
While the cause of Leslie Carter's death remains unknown, the 25-year-old has been laid to rest at a funeral over the weekend.
"It was a very wonderful and touching ceremony," said a source speaking to E! News on Monday.
The burial took place Sunday in upstate New York not far from her father's home where she was found dead less than a week ago.
The sister of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter and singer Aaron Carter, TMZ reported that Leslie had been battling an addiction to prescription medication.
Although Nick was unable to attend the funeral due to performance commitments, nearly 70 people attended the funeral including Leslie's friends and family.
Members of her family had tried to rid her home from pills such as Xanax before her death, and suspect her death was caused by an overdose.
Nick posted his uncertainty on his Twitter account Sunday, writing, "The truth will reveal itself. I love you Leslie so very very very very very much!! virtually no words. You will always be my best friend."
"Our family is grieving right now, and it's a private matter," said a representative for the Carter family in a statement. "We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter."
Carter appeared on the family's reality television show "House of Carters" in 2006 and was a successful singer. Her song "Live Wow" was featured on the soundtrack for the movie "Shrek."
The Carters await the results of a toxicology report. Leslie leaves behind her husband of three years, Mike Ashton, and a 10-month-old daughter, Alyssa Jane.
