The body of the 25-year-old was found next to several types of prescription drugs including Olanzapine, which is used to treat schizophrenia, the muscle relaxant Cyclobenzaprine and Xanax, the anti-anxiety drug, according to HollyWoodLife.com

Carter's body was discovered by her stepmother, according to reports. When paramedics arrived they at the scene they found her unresponsive.

Ginger reportedly told authorities that Carter fell in the shower that morning and subsequently slept throughout the afternoon. Ginger was looking after her stepdaughter's 10-month old baby.

Leslie was "battling a major addiction and yes, it was a surprise when she suddenly died," an insider told HollyWoodLife.com. The source continued to explain that those closest to her knew what had happened to her.

"Before anyone even said what caused it, everyone thought the same thing. She battled a prescription drug addiction for a while. Some think that she was even battling postpartum depression, too."

Like the rest of her family, Leslie Carter had her own music career. She signed a deal with DreamWorks Records back in 1999, but never released an album, according to the New York Daily News.

Carter released the single "Like Wow!" in 2001, which appeared on the soundtrack for the film "Shrek." Leslie also appeared on the E! reality show, "House of Carters."
