'Lethal Weapon' Season 1 Episode 18 Spoilers: Riggs Out for Blood in Game-Changing Season Finale
The penultimate episode of "Lethal Weapon" season 1 may have just confirmed what viewers have been suspicious of all along — Miranda Riggs' (Floriana Lima) death wasn't an accident.
The Cartel may have previously denied any involvement in it, but Agent Karen Palmer's (Hilarie Burton) sharp memory brought the matter back to Martin Riggs' (Clayne Crawford) mind via a file containing the Cartel's hard targets taken from hitman Gideon Lyon's (Matt Passmore) house. Riggs' wife, Miranda, was among those targets.
The freshman season of FOX's breakout hit buddy cop series is coming to an end with this revelation eating away at Riggs' mind. What he does with it, especially after encountering the man who may have been responsible for the deaths of his wife and unborn child, comprises the brunt of the season 1 finale episode titled "Commencement."
And right in the middle of it, Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) is caught between his commitment to Riggs as his partner and his commitment to his own family. Going after the Cartel puts Riggs' life in danger. Does he go with the vengeful man into the bowels of hell, as any good partner should, or will he instead do everything he can to stop Riggs from committing the biggest mistake of his life, no matter how futile his effort may be?
The official trailer for the next episode shows Murtaugh trying to talk his fuming partner out of committing a crime by taking justice into his own hands. One way or another, Riggs has managed to apprehend Gideon and detain the man at his trailer home to try and torture the truth out of his wife's potential murderer. Will Riggs completely lose himself in anger and cross the line of morality by killing Gideon, or will Murtaugh make a last-ditch effort to pull his partner away from that ledge?
Will Murtaugh's influence on Riggs be deep enough to keep the vengeful man from completely going to the dark side?
The "Lethal Weapon" season 1 finale airs on Wednesday, March 15 at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX. The series will be back for a second season later this year.
