LG G Flex 3 News: Metal Design a Possibility, May Sport Snapdragon 820, Fingerprint Scanner
The LG Flex series has been known for its curved design and its high-end specs. The latest device of the series, the LG G Flex 2, was released in January 2015, so speculations are abound that the next flagship device of the series will be launching in early 2016.
According to a report in Tech Times, the device may be launched by March 2016. If reports are true, it will be the first device to be launched with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. This will be a great improvement to the previous LG G Flex 2 especially since this earlier model had overheating issues associated with its Snapdragon 810 chipset.
Earlier rumors said that the G Flex 3 will be made of metal, as this is the current design trend that smartphones are taking. However, since metal is not a very pliable material, LG may not be considering this. The report, however, said that the possibility of a curved metal design may still be considered especially since LG has had experience building TVs with curved metal designs with its bigger display screens.
So far, LG has not officially revealed any specs of their upcoming flagship phone. Earlier reports are based on leaks provided online. The Snapdragon 820 chipset is rumored to be paired with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD. Its main rear-facing camera will be 20.7 megapixels, while its selfie camera will be an 8 megapixel one. These cameras are definitely more powerful than those of LG's competition. Display-wise, it will be bigger than its predecessor, with a 6-inch display and 2K resolution. The device's battery is said to be a non-removable one with 3,500 mAh capacity.
It will feature a fingerprint scanner, which seems to be the norm among flagship smartphones these days. The scanner provides additional security and privacy for the user.
The handset, given its premium features, if these turn out to be true, is estimated to cost around $500, over $100 more than the G Flex 2 when it was released.
