LG G3 Vs. HTC One M8: Spec by Spec Comparison
The LG G3 smartphone debuted recently and the company behind the smartphone is out to prove that this handset will be a major contender in this year's market taking on the likes of the Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8.
Both Samsung and HTC have already shown their best hands with their flagship handsets that made their debut earlier this year. Coincidentally, the HTC One M8 and G3 happen to have a similar appearance. But other than aesthetics, how do each of these smartphones match-up against one another? Here is a brief comparison of the two.
Display
The HTC One M8 features a 5-inch LCD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution at 441 ppi. The device's picture is crystal clear and the colors on it are vibrant making it one of the finest screens on the market. The LG G3 features a 5.5-inch LCD display with 2560 x 1440 resolution at 534 ppi. In terms of numbers, the LG device definitely packs a punch, however, I have never seen the display in person. A side by side comparison would have to be made to see which one really has the better screen.
Speed
Both the LG G3 and HTC One M8 come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processors, however, there is a major difference between the two when it comes to RAM. Certain G3 variants come with 3GB of RAM and the HTC One M8 packs 2GB RAM in every market. The G3 is made to be a powerhouse device while the M8 is more for finesse. The G3 easily edges out the M8 in this department.
Sound
The HTC One M8 comes with an updated version of its BoomSound technology that makes the device significantly louder than the previous version and most other smartphones currently found on the market. The LG G3 packs Dolby mobile sound enhancement which also seems like it would make for same great listening, however, the HTC One is solid in this area and nearly impossible to beat. The exterior speaker design also makes HTC second to none in this area.
Design
LG changed the design with the introduction of the G3 and ditched the all black exterior of its predecessor for a new metallic look. The company definitely took a page out HTC's book with this device but didn't do it quite as well. The HTC One M8 is the manufacturer's second try at this all metal design and the more polished look outclasses previous iterations. The LG G3 looks a bit like an M8 knock off so the company definitely loses points for originality in this area. HTC would have to take it here.
Conclusion
It's a little bit too early to make this call, however, both the G3 and One M8 will not let consumers down. They pack top of the line specs and look great in the hands of any smartphone consumer. They also share the same probability of being slept on in the smartphone market as neither is capable of generating the kind of buzz that Apple or Samsung could with the iPhone 6 or Galaxy S5.
