LG G4 Release News: Shipping Starts This Week, But Not Yet in the US

LG's awaited flagship phone this year, the LG G4, will be released in selected markets this week. Unfortunately, U.S. buyers may need to wait a little bit longer to get a hold of this device. LG announced in a press release that the first customers who will be able to purchase the new handset will be those residing in Hong Kong, followed by Turkey, Russia and Singapore. U.S. buyers will reportedly need to wait until June in order to buy the new phone.

The new phone, as announced, will come in hand-crafted leather covers or textured plastic covers. LG has been known for its sleek and attractive phone designs. As for the rest of the world including Europe, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, the phone will be available next month. Once the company has completed its international release, it will start offering the device through the different mobile carriers all over the world.

U.S. mobile carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and US Cellular already made announcements that they will make the handsets available as soon as the shipments arrive. They have their own offers for potential buyers. Verizon will be selling the G4 with HD calling, and only in black and white non-leather variants. Sprint on the other hand will sell the metallic gray and black leather variants. AT&T said that they will sell the phone, without going into detail about the variants they will make available. T-Mobile is giving away a brand new G4 to lucky customers now until May 25.

According to the report, the G4 has gotten rave reviews from journalists who have initially reviewed the phone. Its powerful 16-megapixel camera is one of its notable features, as well as its Quantum HD display. It also packs a punch on the battery side, with a 3,000mAh battery that according to reviewers keeps the phone running the whole day.

LG CEO and president Juno Cho expressed his satisfaction about initial positive reviews: "Our vision is to create our own set of standards without worrying about what trend other smartphones are following. We think we have a winning formula because the initial reaction to the G4 has been tremendously positive."
