LG G4 S Rumors: A Mid-Range Version of the LG G4 Seen on Benchmark Site
Amidst the success of its latest flagship phone, the LG G4, the Korean phone manufacturer is reportedly working on a cheaper, mid-range version of the G4. The new phone called LG G4 S passed through benchmarking at GFXBench, indicating that the phone will run on a less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset. The LG G4 runs on a Snapdragon 808 chipset.
The LG G4 S will reportedly run on the Snapdragon 615 chipset which will come in 32-bit and 64-bit versions and will feature quad-core Cortex A53 at 1.7 GHZ and another set of quad-cores running at 1.0 GHz, according to Tech Times. This is the same chipset that is being used by Asus ZenFone Selfie, Oppo R5 and HTC Desire 820.
The Tech Times report mentioned 2 GB of RAM and an Adreno 420 graphics card. Another report in TechRadar, however, said that it will only have 1.4 GB of RAM and a meager 3.5 GB of internal storage, which may not be good news for heavy smartphone users.
Design-wise, it was also reported that despite its mid-range specs, the G4 S will look like the G4 and may even have the option of the premium leather back of the G4. It is also reported to have the company's highly sensitive Advanced In-Cell Technology display. The screen size will be the same as the G4, at 5.2-inches. The phone's display resolution will naturally be lower, at 1,920 x 1,080, at full HD. The LG G4 has a higher resolution with a Quad HD display.
The G4 S will reportedly sport an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, which will have an auto-focus feature, dual-LED flash, HDR and face detection support. The original camera on the flagship G4 is a 16-megapixel one. The front-facing camera of the G4 S will be a decent 5-megapixel one, which is good enough for selfies and full HD recording.
The report said that official unveiling of the new phone is pegged at some time during the second half of July, which is just around the corner.
