LG Gentle Flip Phone Makes Global Debut as the Wine Smart
South Korean tech giant LG recently confirmed its Android Lollipop-powered flip phone, the LG Gentle, will be getting an international release as LG Wine Smart.
Like many other smartphone manufacturers, LG has launched several handsets available only to its home market consumers, and users expected the Gentle was one of these exclusive range of mobile phones.
However, LG has foreseen there may be a demand for the Wine Smart in other markets, and the Android 5.1 Lollipop flip phone with its 3.2 touchscreen will soon be sold in the U.K., France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Kazakhstan, and Japan.
Housed in a traditional clamshell design reminiscent of mobile phones a generation past, the bottom half of the phone holds the buttons, while the top half holds the 3.2-inch IPS LCD of HVGA 480 x 320 resolution touchscreen.
The Wine Smart will be running on a quad-core 1.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC, and offers 1GB of RAM with 4GB of internal memory that's expandable via a MicroSD slot.
It has a main 3.15MP rear camera and a VGA front shooter, and will be powered by a 1m700mAh removable battery. With both Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.1, and USB 2.0 connectivity, the handset also supports 4G LTE, and 3G HSPA. Weighing a total of 143g, the Wine Smart is 117.7 x 58.7 x 16.6mm, it will come in two color variants of navy and burgundy.
LG hasn't confirmed the handset's price in the global as of yet, but as it is available in its home country at $170, the international price tag is likely to be set in the currency equivalent of where it will be sold.
