LG K Series News: LG K5 And K8 Released
After Korean smartphone manufacturer LG launched its K Series of phones at the CES 2016 early this year, the company is finally releasing two new smartphones, the LG K5 and the LG K8 in key markets this week, according to a Tech Times report.
Both devices which are considered to be mid-range smartphones will be released in Latin America and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) this week. The LG K8 will also find its way to markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, while the LG K5 will be available in the European market as well, the report said.
According to another report in Digital Trends, the two devices have mid-range specs but have "solid designs" and offers a good choice of color options for the picky consumer.
The LG K8's design is likened to that of the LG V10, with a woven back cover that makes it easier to hold, as well as controls for power and volume situated at the back of the device. Under the hood, the device has a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor which is paired with 1 GB of RAM for the Latin American market or 1.5 GB for the U.S. and European markets. According to Tech Times, the device will have 8 GB of internal storage on board, which is expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card slot. Display size is 5 inches, with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels.
An 8-megapixel camera is the LG K8's main camera, while its front-facing camera is a 5-megapixel shooter. It will come pre-installed with Android Marshmallow and will sport a removable 2,125 mAh. Color options are interesting, with gold, indigo or white.
The look of the LG K5, on the other hand, is similar to the metallic design of the LG G4 according to the Digital Trends report. Its resolution is lower than that of the K8, at only 854 x 480 pixels for a 5-inch screen. Camera set-up is a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The 1,900 mAh battery is also removable, while internal storage is said to be at 8 GB as well. It has the same 1.3 GHz quad-core processor as the K8. Unfortunately, the device will not be running on Android Marshmallow, but will only be running on Android Lollipop. Color options are gold, silver or titan.
Pricing for both devices however was not provided by LG.
