Lightside Partners With 'The Bible' Series for Game App

As more and more people become enthralled with social gaming, one person is creating a way so that the message and teachings of Jesus can be available to the growing social gaming community.

Brent Dusing, founder of Lightside Games, recently launched the company's newest project, Light the Way: The Bible, and was able to partner with the producers of the History Channel's smash-hit miniseries The Bible to bring the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ to anyone with a smartphone.

But even with more than 250 million people around the globe who play social games on Facebook, Dusing understands that providing an entertaining medium to adoring fans is not enough and that he has to go beyond simply producing entertainment media; he has to incorporate God's love.

"We make entertainment products that reflect God's love … but we are adamant about making products that are fun and engaging and high quality," Dusing told The Christian Post.

Dusing was able to partner with Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, both of whom were excited to have a game developed that would focus on bringing people an exciting alternative to learning about Jesus and the Bible.

"We hope The Bible series excites people to open their Bibles and reconnect with the wonderful stories and timeless truths inside," Downey said in a statement.

"Light the Way: The Bible is the perfect way for teachers, parents and children to have fun while exploring the scriptures and engaging with The Bible series," she added.

Dusing earned his degree in economics from Harvard and launched his first digital start-up, Cellfire, in 2006. That company offered digital coupons to consumers and forever changed the printed coupon industry.

The success of Cellfire allowed Dusing the opportunity to create Lightside Games in 2010. The first game created by Dusing was Journey of Moses and in doing so became the first company to create a Bible-based social game on Facebook. Dusing's second project, Journey of Jesus: The Calling, launched in May 2012.

"Lightside Games clearly shares our passion for telling the timeless stories of the Bible in new, visually exciting, yet accurate ways. Lightside Games is the perfect partner to create a family-friendly tablet game based on our History Channel series The Bible," Burnett said.
