Lil' Kim Reveals How Prophecy, Prayer Revealed Pregnancy
Lil' Kim, the rapper who was born as Kimberly Jones, is letting it be known that she believes in the power of prayer and prophecy.
Kim visited the popular New York City based syndicated radio show "The Breakfast Club," where she revealed that she consistently participates in a telephone prayer group. While Kim referred to the women that pray with her as her protectors, she also recalled her pregnancy initially being revealed after one of her prayer sessions, when one prophetess told her to get a pregnancy test.
"I said, 'What? I am not pregnant. What's wrong with you, woman?'" the rapper recalled on the radio show. "She was like, 'Yeah, I think we have a bun in the oven.'"
Kim gave birth to her first child last June, and spoke about the importance of the prophets and spiritual mentors that pray with her.
"I have a lot of older women and people in my life," Kim revealed. "I have like real prophets, church-going women that pray over me [and] with me, and everything constantly."
This is not the first time the rapper has been vocal about her faith. In 2012, Kim appeared on BET Network's "Lift Every Voice," where she spoke about her Christian faith.
"I always keep God first no matter what," she previously said on the program. "I think in this industry, people lose it. That's because they've probably never had a connection with God, and if they do have a connection with God, they forget to put Him first."
She went on to admit that while people were not perfect, it is important to be grounded in positive beliefs.
"At the end of the day, believe in something and always try to stay positive," she said on "Lift Every Voice." "We're not perfect, so [negativity] is gonna peek in and the devil is gonna play and dance with you sometimes. But as long as you keep God first…"
