Lincoln Navigator Concept Car Presented At New York Auto Show

American carmaker Lincoln is trying to stage a comeback for its SUV line with its new concept for the Lincoln Navigator, which was recently unveiled at the New York International Auto Show. According to a report in ABC News, Lincoln spokesperson Matthew McConaughey showed off the concept car which is said to go into production soon for a 2017 release.

It has been a while since Lincoln came out with its first Navigator in 1998, which was its first full-sized sports utility vehicle or SUV. The new Navigator is ages away in terms of technology and according to a report in Wired, the SUV has everything a luxury vehicle can have these days.

The Navigator concept boasts of impressive gullwing doors which when opening up seem to give an illusion that the car is about to take flight. Because of the car's height, it is also equipped with Concertina steps that can be unfolded after the doors open, which make it easier for the driver and its passengers to get on it.

Inside the concept car is pure luxury as well, with six seats all covered in soft leather and according to the report, can be "adjusted 30 different ways to fit a truly eclectic range of human bodies." The vehicle's sound system is impressive as Lincoln is said to be working with Revel to customize the car's audio system.

The concept car is also designed with connectivity in mind – it doubles as a WiFi hotspot while on the road, and with four tablet-sized screens found on the back of the headrest, passengers can check their Facebook feed, stream movies via Netflix, or even look for a new restaurant to check out while on the road.

To complete the package, Lincoln has added a "custom wardrobe management system," or in simpler terms, a closet. According to the press release, the closet will have all that one needs for "a day on the water."
