Lindsay Ellixson Body Found in Waters of Louisiana; Family Clings to Faith During Loss
The body of 21-year-old Lindsay Ellixson was found earlier this month in the waters of Louisiana. Police and the FBI are investigating what exactly happened to the "free spirit" who was searching for herself, but her brothers maintain they truly "know where she is."
Lindsay was one of three children adopted into the Ellixson family. She reportedly had an account on a social networking site known as MeetMe and posted that she needed a place to stay in Denham. Lindsay also asked for a ride; her body was found in Baton Rouge, between Plaquemine and Denham Springs.
"Everyone tells me it's gonna get better but no one actually wants to help," she posted on MeetMe. "HATE MY LIFE. GIVING UP FOR NOW," her final post read.
"She just had a lot of struggles that she needed to overcome," her mother, Catherine, told The Advocate. "She was just trying to figure things out. It seemed as if she was ready to come home. I knew something wasn't quite right and we were praying for her every day."
The Ellixson family resides in Orlando, and her family was shocked to learn that their loved one's body was found beaten and submerged in the water for several days. Authorities called her murder "unusually brutal and violent," according to WFTV News.
"They've ben asking for every possible contact, where's she's been, who she's been with," Lindsay's father Chris told WAFB News. "They asked about places she's been, phone numbers she called us from…"
Her brothers, Sean and Brendan, both serve in the U.S. Marines and are reportedly struggling to deal with the loss of their sister. Yet the family is relying upon its faith during this painful time and take comfort in knowing Lindsay is in a better place.
"She's looking down on us, smiling, wishing us a happy Thanksgiving," Chris said. "We know where she is."
