Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor is 'Trash Pretending to Be an Icon'? (PHOTOS)

The Lifetime Network's Elizabeth Taylor biopic featuring Lindsay Lohan is set to begin filming this week, but a picture of the look-alike star has already been leaked. Some have already given harsh reviews.

It was announced earlier this year that Lindsay Lohan will depict Elizabeth Taylor on Lifetime's new biopic of the acclaimed star. This week will be the first of many filming for the movie, which will also feature Grant Bowler of "True Blood."

Lohan recently sat down with Matt Lauer during an interview on the "Today Show" to talk about the new role which some have said might be enough to turn the star's spiraling career in the other direction.

"I've been doing tons of research," Lohan said, talking about Elizabeth Taylor. "But I've always kind of researched her. She's always been a fascinating woman to me. So I'm really honored. And I will not let anyone down, especially myself."

Lohan also admitted however, that when it came to her professional reputation, she was not expecting an overnight fix.

"I think that takes time," Lohan told Lauer talking about her past substance abuse issues and why it took her so long to overcome them. "I think I was scared and didn't want to admit it to myself, let alone anyone else."

Lohan has apparently cut and dyed her hair for the new role, according to a number of reports. A recent photo acquired by TMZ shows Lohan in a curly, brunette 'do that is very Tayloresque. She was wearing an old-fashioned dress of green and white.

Despite a fairly close resemblance, however, many users gave harsh review of Lohan's ability to portray Elizabeth Taylor accurately.

"She looks nothing like liz Taylor! No way will her walk or talk be like her either. This will be a 'B' movie at best," American Mom wrote.

"How embarrassing. Trash pretending to be an icon. Not happening. This is sad even though it's only a Lifetime movie," Phreaky added.

Others were far more supportive.

"Fireworks and celebrations! I knew Lindsay could pull this off! The moment it was announced that she had been cast as Liz, I knew she could play Elizabeth like no other actor of this generation,"Chicadee1 wrote on the Hollywood Gossip blog."Now that the nay-sayers should choke or their negative comments, and they will in time, all that remains is for Lindsay to make their clinched jaws drop with her brilliant and doppleganger performance as the reincarnation of Elizabeth Taylor during two years of her 10 year marriage to Burton."
