Lindsay Lohan Returning to Acting as Elizabeth Taylor?

Lindsay Lohan may be gearing up for her return to acting with a role as Elizabeth Taylor.

Lohan is reportedly in talks to play the lead role in the upcoming Lifetime original movie “Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story,” according to Deadline.com reports. The film will reportedly document movie icons Taylor and Burton’s highly publicized romantic relationship.

The pair was married twice, from 1964 to 1974 and again from 1975 to 1976.

Deadline.com reports that the film will be produced by Larry Thompson, who worked on the Lifetime movie “Amish Grace.” The movie source also reported that Christopher Monger is set to write the movie, and it is slated for a 2011-2012 development date for the Lifetime network.

If Lohan were to be given the role, it would be her first since the 2010 action film "Machete." However, the actress’ legal troubles off screen have resulted in her reportedly losing opportunities to gain more high profile roles.

After violating probation and being forced to go to rehab and jail, some people have declined to work with Lohan. The actress publicly expressed an interest in playing Victoria Gotti in a biopic about now-deceased mobster John Gotti.

Although Victoria acknowledged the actresses’ legal troubles, she also praised her acting skills.

“I think she's a great actress. I think she can do ... any role, really," Victoria said of the young actress.

“She had a little bit of a bumpy road recently (but) I think she's doing great. I think she's going to continue to do great and she's got a lot of people rooting for her."

However, after more troubles in the actress’ personal life erupted, the film’s producer Marc Fiore announced that she would no longer be a part of it.

Another film executive, director Matthew Wilder, admitted that her legal troubles got in the way of her playing porn star Linda Lovelace in the biopic titled Inferno.

"We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan," Wilder told E! News in November. "We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support. Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her and some other issues have made it impossible for us to go forward."

Although some have already decided that she would be properly suited for the role of Taylor, Lohan’s representatives refused to confirm the reports for CNN.

“We're not commenting on hearsay or comments made by unnamed sources," the representative said.
