Lindsay Lohan to Be Charged for Lying to Police; Actress Facing Jail Time
Lindsay Lohan will reportedly be charged for lying to police about her involvement in a car accident that occurred in June.
The troubled actress will be charged with a misdemeanor for telling authorities that she was not behind the wheel of her sports car when it crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler truck. Multiple witnesses claim that Lohan, 26, was in fact the driver at the time of the accident, according to TMZ.com.
The truck driver claimed that Lohan was speeding down the Pacific Coast Highway before slamming into his truck and he also alleged that Lohan's assistant attempted to bribe him with cash prior to fleeing the scene of the accident with Lohan in another vehicle. Lohan, who is currently on probation for a prior jewelry heist, could face jail time if convicted on the misdemeanor charge.

Police had initially planned to hit the "Mean Girls" star with drug charges after reportedly finding various prescription pills in her purse and car trunk after the accident. However, Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Holley, was able to provide documentation confirming that the drugs had been legally prescribed to her client.
In February of 2011, Lohan was charged with the theft of a necklace which had been reported stolen by a Los Angeles jewelry store, and the actress later pled no contest. She was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 120 days in jail along with 480 hours of community service for misdemeanor theft and probation violation.
Lohan has allegedly been in court at least 19 times since being arrested in 2007. Additionally she has spent at least 250 days in rehab, 35 days in home confinement, has completed 67 days community service, 19 days in court and has made six trips to jail, according to CNN.com.
