Linsanity Edition Sneakers for Jeremy Lin to be Released by Nike
Nike has made plans to cash in on Linsanity that has taken over basketball with their release of a Jeremy Lin "Linsanity" edition Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 shoe.
Two weeks ago, Jeremy Lin was a bench-warmer. But after leading the New York Knicks on a seven-game win streak, Lin has peaked in popularity and will have the chance to have his own sneakers. Nike is planning to produce Lin's first player-exclusive shoes, according to Counterkicks.com.
Lin will join the ranks of Kobe Bryant, Lebron James and Dwayne Wade as basketball superstars who have custom shows bearing their name, after starting in only seven games.
Lin is already sponsored by Nike and currently wears plain white and blue or black and white editions of the Hyperfuse 2011. However, the "Linsanity" version of the Zoom Hyperfuse will be customized for Lin and feature Knicks' colors.
The "Linsanity" Zoom Hyperfuse is outlined in orange with Knicks' blue filling it in. They will also sport "Lin" written in cursive on the outer heel of the sneaker. Lin has signed a three-year deal with Nike and is expected to release more player exclusive sneakers in the future, according to Theshoegame.com.
Linsanity has taken over the sports world since Jeremy Lin came to Knicks' rescue after a sluggish start to their season. He has set an NBA record for most points scored in a player's first six games and dropped 38 points on the Los Angeles Lakers in Madison Square Garden.
He had a career high in assists (13) in a dominating win over the Sacramento Kings Wednesday, and iced the Toronto Raptors with a game-winning three pointer Tuesday night. Lin's popularity has spread so much that stocks of MSG, who owns the Knicks, hit a record-high during Lin's reign as their point guard, according to Yardbarker.com.
Thanks to Lin's heroics, the Knicks are back at .500 with a 15-15 record and they are just getting their big stars, Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire, back from long breaks.
Since taking over as the Knicks' point-guard on Feb. 4th, Lin has averaged 26.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.8 steals.
