Linsanity Inspired by Christian Rapper Lecrae and Band Hillsong
Overnight NBA sensation Jeremy Lin was recently asked by the Fuse network what he listened to for inspiration during games and the New York Knicks point guard mentioned Christian rapper Lecrae and Christian band Hillsong.
"An artist you got to check out is Lecrae," said Lin. "He's a Christian rapper. Just raps a lot about the Gospel. I really enjoy his lyrics as well so if you're a big lyrics guy he's a good fit for you."
Lin also stated that he likes to listen to Christian band Hillsong in order to mellow himself out during a game.
"I listen to them to just remind myself why I'm playing the game and remind myself I'm playing to glorify God; I just try to focus on that," he added. "I try not to get too hyped up, otherwise I find myself kind of burnt out before the game or going into the game just with a little too much energy playing out of character."
Lin claims Hillsong helps him "slow it down a little bit," and gets him in the place he needs to be in order to play his best during the game.
Lin's faith became more evident when he tweeted "God is good during our ups and downs. Thanks to Landry Fields for letting me crash on his couch last night," shortly after his first game against the New Jersey Nets last week.
Lin went from a D-league player to having arguably the biggest name in the NBA in just a few weeks time.
Since entering the starting line-up the Knicks have won seven games in a row. Lin instantly became an overnight star after bringing the team out of a previous slump.
Lin grew up in church and stated in a 2010 interview that it was during his freshmen year when he really embraced his faith and began to play in order to glorify God.
