Barcelona Transfer News, Rumors 2014: Lionel Messi Considering Transfer to Chelsea Due to Money Problems

Lionel Messi, dubbed the world's best football player in the world, is having money problems over at his camp in Barcelona. Because of this, Messi is considering a trasnfer over to Stamford Bridge because he wants to play in the Premier League.

Barcelona won't be letting go of their most prized asset that easily however and has placed a £200 million price for anyone who wants to get him. The price might be a little steep if Messi wants to go to Chelsea but sources indicate that the team's sponsor Adidas, might help broker the deal to steal the striker from Barcelona, whom is sponsored by rival Nike.

Cesc Fabregas, a close friend of Messi's who had joined Chelsea during the summer has also been trying to persuade Messi to join the club.

May earlier this year, Messi had signed a contract with the team amounting to £16 million per year but rival Cristiano Ronaldo gets £19 million a year at Real Madrid, which has caused the financial woes between Messi and Barcelona in the first place.

The Barcelona star striker is currently the record holder of the most numer of goals in La Liga and in the Champions League but he has been rather unimpressed by the amount of attention being given to his younger Brazilian teammate, Neymar.

While the availability of Messi is tempting, Chelsea would have to overcome the £200 million price tag which Barcelona has placed – that is if Jose Mourinho is interested in adding Messi to his roster.
