Lisa D'Amato: 'Pregnancy Pretty Gross'
"America's Next Top Model" star Lisa D'Amato is expecting her first child in just a few weeks and revealed new details about her pregnancy. The former reality contestant is expecting a healthy baby boy with husband Adam Friedman.
"I'm usually feeling pretty bad but always trying to stay positive," D'Amato told People magazine. "When people say I'm glowing, I tell them it's because someone needs to put on the AC. That whole 'pregnancy glow' thing is a joke! There is nothing pretty about pregnancy except creating a life – other than that I think it's pretty gross."
The model has had a rough year, after taking time off to heal from an accident that left her with a broken nose and several cuts on her face. D'Amato said that it took her nearly one year to "fully recover" from the accident and that pregnancy made it "much more difficult to heal fast."
Now D'Amato is planning to take even more time off to recover from her pregnancy and birth. She has been quite strict during her pregnancy in order to shorten the recovery period but is willing to adjust to motherhood, no matter what it takes. It's clear that although the pregnancy has been difficult, D'Amato is hopeful that motherhood will be different.
"Pregnancy doesn't care what I do or how I feel or think on the matter. It has a mind of its own. I only want a happy healthy baby. I can get my body back after. I'm just embracing being a new mom soon, which I've always wanted to be, and laying a bit low for my face to heal," D'Amato explained. "All in all, if something doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger, so I'm just adding more character to my repertoire being, as Tyra would say, 'Flawsome.'"
D'Amato appeared on two seasons of "ANTM" and finally won a modeling contract during the "All Star" season of competition. She is scheduled to have her son at the end of September or the beginning of October.
