Lisa Kudrow Chosen to Host Webby Awards

Lisa Kudrow is set to host this year's Webby Awards ceremony. Kudrow will also be accepting the honor of "best individual performance in an online video."

"Lisa Kudrow has really embraced online entertainment, using her iconic style and sense of humor to create 'Web Therapy,' one of the funniest web series today," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the organization behind the Webbys, in a statement.

"She is the natural choice to host this year's Webby Awards, having been recognized by the Academy for her outstanding role as internet-based therapist Fiona Wallice, creating a whole new character to love for years to come," he added.

Kudrow, best known for playing Phoebe on "Friends," won two Webbys for her comedy series "Web Therapy;" Justin Bieber won the People's Voice award for his April Good's video on FunnyOrDie.com.

The 15th annual ceremony, best described as the "Oscars" of the Internet, is an international event honoring excellence on the Internet. It has nearly 70 categories, including "Religion and Spirituality.” Two awards are given in each category, the Webby and the People's Voice Awards.

The winners were announced earlier this month.

The nominations for the "Religion and Spirituality" category included Interfaith Youth Care, Christian organization Never Thirst Ministry, PBS' Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly, Religion Dispatches and PBS' The Buddha.

The Webby Award Winner and the People's Voice Winner went to The Buddha, a two-hour documentary that tells the story of the Buddha’s life.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on June 13 on the Webby Awards' official Facebook page.
