Lisa Lampanelli Weight Loss, Gastric Surgery: 80 Pounds Lighter, 3-Course Meals (VIDEO)

After undergoing a gastric sleeve surgery in April to assist her with losing weight, comedienne Lisa Lampanelli is now 80 pounds lighter and says she feels much healthier, according to a new report.

Lampanelli was once bordering on an unhealthy 250-pound weigh-in. But in April, the comedienne and former "Celebrity Apprentice" star decided that it was time to consider more serious options after a number of diet plans had failed.

"Crazy diets, good diets - you can't name a diet I didn't do," she told In Touch magazine. "Finally I said, 'I've tried it all, and there's no shame in taking the next step.' The doctor who ultimately did my procedure explained that obesity risks are much greater than the risks for this surgery."

A gastric sleeve operation consists of reducing the stomach to about 25 percent of its original size by removing a large portion of it. The procedure is irreversible and usually only used for patients who are considered to be extremely obese, with a BMI of over 40.

"I feel so much healthier," Lampanelli explained. "I was such an overeater. Now, I get full quickly - at three, four bites, I have to stop."

Lampanelli also added, in an interview with Dr. Oz, that she hasn't had to change what she orders or eats, but rather of much of it she eats.

"I order food like a normal human being. If I'm out to lunch I'm going to order three courses like everybody else. "But then the idea is you have to eat such a small portion of it and bring the rest home. So I'll pretty much eat two bites of soup and get the taste. You get the flavor. You still get to enjoy good food and not deprive yourself because that's a failure of a lot of diets."

Down to a size 12 dress, the comedian said that she was happy with where her weight is at this point, although she intended to keep a close watch on gaining any more extra pounds.

"The size I am right nowis the size I was always meant to be," she said. "I'm keeping a close watch. I don't want to gain again."
