Lisa Whelchel Divorces Husband After 23 Years?

Lisa Whelchel, the face of "The Facts of Life," has allegedly finalized her divorce from husband, Pastor Steve Cauble. The Christian actress is a member of the new cast of "Survivor: Philippines," which premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 25.

Whelchel and Cauble have been married for 23 years and have three children together. According to reports, Whelchel made the decision to hold off on the divorce until her youngest child went to college. She filed paperwork in December 2011, but the records have officially been sealed.

"Lisa and Steve's marriage was doomed even before they said their 'I do's' and it just got worse as time went by," a friend told the National Enquirer. "Over the years, she realized she never loved Steve the way she should have as his wife and it affected the way she treated him."

Whelchel has also been on a whirlwind publicity tour for "Survivor" and her latest book. She has always wanted to compete on the CBS reality series and finally earned her shot after reportedly "campaigning" for the spot. According to her Twitter account, and public appearances, Whelchel enjoyed herself in the Philippines.

"Lisa puts on a smiling face in public, but in reality she has a dark side," the source added. "It was a quick, uncontested divorce and it only took months to finalize."

If the reports are true, it would be a fresh start for Whelchel, who is enjoying a surge in popularity and a return to the spotlight. She has been incredibly busy speaking to churches and groups about her renewed Christianity, her work for the Lord, and a myriad of books and other publications she has produced.

Whelchel is the author of "Friendship for Grown-Ups," "The Facts of Life and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me," and a parenting book entitled "Creative Correction." She is the mother of three children, one of whom has ADHD. It has given her a unique experience that she wanted to share with the world.

"My desire is to help moms and dads find practical help and fresh hope for the arduous, yet rewarding, task of raising healthy, happy children," Whelchel has written on her website.
