'Little Mermaid' Live-Action Movie Cast News: Lindsay Lohan Wants to Play Ariel

Many young women have had dreams of becoming a Disney princess at some point in their lives, and it looks like Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan is one of them.

The actress took to Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 19, to tell her fans that she wants to star in the live-action adaptation of Disney's animated movie "The Little Mermaid." Lohan posted a photo of her next to a photo of "The Little Mermaid" lead character Ariel.

"I will sing again, as #ariel #thelittlemermaid," the 30-year-old actress captioned her Instagram post, according to E! News."@disney approve that #billcondon directs it along with my sister @alianamusic singing the theme song for the soundtrack."

"Also @kgrahamsfb plays Ursula," Lohan continued, referring to a trainer and CrossFit enthusiast. "Simply because, she is the best. take one. @disneystudios."

Lohan later edited the caption of her Instagram post. As of this writing, it now simply reads, "#thelittlemermaid."

Disney has yet to make an official announcement confirming that a live-action adaptation for "The Little Mermaid" is currently in development. However, in August 2016, Deadline reported that the studio has tapped the expertise of "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and songwriter Alan Menken, the composer of the musical score of the 1989 animated film classic, to write the music for the planned live-action adaptation.

In an interview with Vulture last November, Miranda revealed that his participation in the live-action movie of "The Little Mermaid" is still being worked out.

"We're in super-early talks — I literally don't have a title for what my job on The Little Mermaid is yet," the "Hamilton" star said. "Right now, it's the guy who wears the 'don't mess it up' hat. If I could sign a contract with that job title on it, that would be great! But that's sort of where we are," he added.

Should the live adaptation of "The Little Mermaid" push through, it will join the lineup of live-action versions of animated classics produced by Disney such as "Cinderella," "Maleficent," and more recently, the upcoming film "Beauty and the Beast" which set for release on March 17.
