Live Webcast of Sudanese Camps on Wednesday

The NCC and other members of the Save Darfur Coalition will host a live webcast that includes interviews with survivors of the genocide and a tour of a Sudanese camp on Wednesday

To raise awareness of the atrocities taking place in Sudan, the National Council of Churches, in conjunction with dozens of other faith-groups in America, set aside Wednesday, August 25 as the “National Day of Conscience on Sudan.” Under the advocacy banner “Save Darfur Coalition,” the NCC is offering a live Webcast from a refugee camp on Sudan’s border with Chad that will include interviews with survivors of the Darfur genocide and a tour of the camp.

The live webcast will begin at 9 a.m. Eastern time with an “international town hall meeting.” By 10 a.m., genocide survivors and aid workers will be speaking live from the camps. To watch the webcast, please sign up at www.faithfulamerica.org/webcast.htm.

Also on the 25th, the NCC urged Christians across America to “engage in interfaith activities designed to raise public awareness about the growing genocide in Darfur and to demand that the international community take immediate and decisive action to stop the killing, the rape, and the destruction of villages, and to assure that humanitarian relief reaches all those in need.”
