Liverpool Experiences Day of Unity Between Faiths
Liverpool -- Members of the Merseyside Council of Faiths toured Liverpool’s major religious sites as part of its preparation for the “2004 Faith in One City Celebration,” Oct. 26.
The event served as both a fundraiser for the 2004 celebration and a gimmick for the Capital of Culture events slated for 2008.
Liverpool is an example of religious tolerance and co-existence between a multitude of faiths and cultures, and the Walk of Faith is a symbol of these strong links,” said the coordinator of Faith in One City, Wally Brown. "It gives us the chance to celebrate our diverse religious communities."

Another participant, the Reverend Rupert Hoare, said he was “delighted” to see such a union between the diverse religious communities in the city.
''Liverpool's religious communities have an integral role to play in the city's life, and the Capital of Culture celebrations," he said. "The Walk of Faith will allow us to give thanks for the valuable contributions made by all our diverse faith groups."
The walk, which began at the Anglican Cathedral of Liverpool, covered over six miles of the city. Following the pit stops at the Prince's Road synagogue, the Ar-Rahma Mosque, and the Ullet Road Unitarian Church, the walk ended at the Metropolitan Cathedral, where congregants of different faiths joined the attendants to parade back to the Anglican Cathedral.
