'Logan' Release Date, News: Movie Is About Family, Patrick Stewart Says

"Logan" has been making waves prior to its release on the silver screen as it boasts a rather bloodstained and gory depiction of the characters, netting it the same rating as "Deadpool." What's surprising though is how it is going to have a theme revolving around the healing effects of family.

This is something that Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier, tells Den of Geek in an interview. He points out that despite the fact that the film is filled with action not for the faint of heart, it still manages to go to the emotional aspect of the characters, making audiences relate easily to them.

"It's so important — it stands right in the middle of the movie and changes everything," Stewart explains, pointing out to Logan (Hugh Jackman) and Charles' influence over Laura (Dafne Keen). "We see her emotions coming into play, and the appeal that the family life has to her — affection, love, humour ... music! She'd never heard music before. We see the transformation in her character, so I think that justifies the violence that surrounds her at the beginning of the movie."

This being said, he illustrates how the support of family, whether it is bound by blood or not, is enough to heal wounds, which is something people must have not expected from an R-rated film. The movie is, first and foremost, showing violence, but above all it demonstrates palpable emotions.

With all of this information, one can deduce that the movie is going to be great. As a matter of fact, it is so grand that Stewart has decided he is leaving the "X-Men" franchise after "Logan," Entertainment Weekly has learned. He said that the film was the best depiction of Charles' character in a movie, and felt it was high time to say goodbye.

"Logan" makes his way to the cinemas for the last time on March 3, 2017.
