John Coveny, who developed the show based on the Walt Longmire mystery novel series by best-selling writer, Craig Johnson, told Yahoo!TV the producers have already planned out the show up to a 10th season, a possibility they already presented to Netflix when they pitched "Longmire" to the company.

Netflix has yet to release a statement on whether it will renew the show for a fifth season, and worried fans have been urging the streaming provider to release news of "Longmire's" fate as soon as possible.

The show centers on Wyoming county sheriff, Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor), who returns to work following his wife's death and investigates a number of crimes with the help of his daughter and friends, while he carries on a campaign for re-election with one of his deputies running against him.

"Longmire" has received generally positive reviews since it premiered on A&E in June 2012, and has since received a number of awards and nominations in 2013 and 2014.

The series also stars Katee Sackhoff as sheriff's deputy, Victoria Moretti, Lou Diamond Phillips as Cheyenne restaurant owner Henry Standing Bear, Cassidy Freeman as Longmire's daughter, Cady Longmire, and Bailey Chase as Longmire's opponent deputy, Branch Connally.
