'Longmire' Season 5 News: Will It Be Renewed?

Fans of the series "Longmire" will be happy to hear that it will most likely return for its fifth season.

The series has had a rocky past, having first premiered on the A&E channel. It aired on the network for three seasons until it was dropped, despite its success. According to A&E, the decision to drop the series was due to the fact that it did not fit with the demographics of their target market.

Luckily, the series was picked up for its fourth season by Netflix. Released last September, the fourth season was produced by The Shephard/Robin Company, along with Greer Shephard and Michael M. Robin.

There is still no official announcement regarding the new season. However, it was reported that the upcoming season will continue with Walt Longmire determined to find the killer of his wife. But the chance for a renewal is very likely as actor Robert Taylor, who plays the role of Sheriff Walt Longmire, explained that the possibility of a new season will be based on the success of the previous episode.

He said, "There are some very dramatic developments in season 4. If something is resolved, perhaps the manner that it's resolved might blow something else apart. There's a lot of big stuff going on."

He is not the only one from the cast who believes that the series will continue. It was reported that actress Ally Walker is confident that "Longmire" will have a fifth season. With that, she will be reprising her role as Dr. Donna Sue Monahan.

Meanwhile, there are some concerns regarding the fifth season. It was predicted that the upcoming season will have a hard time living up to the hype of the previous season.

The story is based on the novels by Craig Johnson entitled "Walt Longmire Mysteries." "Longmire" features stars Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Bailey Chase, Adam Bartley, Cassidy Freeman, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
