Los Angeles Rams NFL Trade and Roster Rumors: Aaron Donald May Miss More Games While He Gets Into Game Shape

Aaron Donald is back. The two-time first-team All-Pro defensive tackle has finally ended his holdout, but as expected, he didn't suit up for the Los Angeles Rams when they took on the Indianapolis Colts at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Sunday.

The defense was great without Donald as the Rams handed the Colts a 46–9 loss. However, it should be noted that Scott Tolzien was starting in place of Andrew Luck for the Colts, and he had a horrible game.

The Rams are set to face Kirk Cousins and the Washington Redskins at home next weekend, and it seems that they may have to play that game without their star defensive tackle.

According to ProFootballTalk's Michael David Smith, the Rams don't want to put Donald on the field until he's ready and he may miss the game against the Redskins on Sunday. Apparently, his status for the game against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, Sept. 21, is questionable as well.

"If that means Donald needs a couple weeks of practice before he's prepared after spending the entire offseason away from the team, the Rams are ready to have him sit out Weeks 2–3 as well. The Rams are planning to pay him his weekly game checks even if he doesn't play, as part of the agreement that got him back in the fold," Smith said.

"It's possible that Donald's season won't begin until the Rams travel to Dallas on Sunday, October 1," he added.

Since Donald missed training camp and the preseason, the Rams probably want to make sure that he's in game shape physically and mentally before they even consider playing him. Of course, the three-time Pro Bowler knows how to take care of his body, so fans shouldn't be surprised if he's ready to get to work against the Redskins on Sunday.
