Lourdes Shaves Head: Lola Follows Madonna's Experimental Spirit

Madonna's daughter, Lourdes Leon, has shaved part of her head and debuted the new look on the streets of New York City Thursday.

Leon, 15, who is known for having long dark locks, surprised on-lookers when she sported the new do on her way to school, according to People magazine.

Lourdes, affectionately nicknamed "Lola," appears to be experimenting, like any regular teen, and has previously taken to her online blog to share ideas about changing her hair.

"I want royal blue hair but not a streak, like my entire head," the creative teen once posted online.

Lourdes, who is Madonna's only biological child, seems to have adopted pop icon Madonna's creativity as she is a co-founder of her very own clothing line, Material Girl clothing.

The clothing line, sold exclusively at Macy's, is designed to target the "tween" market and offers various designs of feminine clothing including dresses, jackets and shoes.

The Material Girl brand expanded ever since Lourdes and co-founder Madonna introduced Material Girl Beauty, which incorporates a number of beauty products.

While some critics question whether make-up should be targeted at teenagers, others support the idea, insisting that teenagers would simply use adults' make-up if it was no longer catered to them.

"I was mostly using adult products before. I was using Bare Minerals, Benefit and MAC," Lourdes wrote in an email to the New York Times.

"Growing up in London and NYC, I was always fascinated by makeup," Lourdes added, claiming to have developed an interest "when [she] was 2 years old!"

Lourdes appears to be somewhat of a trendsetter, with sources saying that the Material Girl Brand has done exceptionally well at Macy's and some suspect that her shaved head could become a trend amongst young fans.

While Lourdes is already a successful entrepreneur at the tender age of 15, mother Madonna believes that a college education is still necessary and recently said that she would like for her daughter to attend the same college that she went to: the University of Michigan.

"I want my daughter to go to school there. I'm working it. I keep telling her Ann Arbor is an awesome place," Madonna told the NFL network.
