'Love Costs Everything' Simulcast With Francis Chan to Expose Christian Persecution
A special worldwide simulcast event which will be live on March 7 and March 11, called "Love Costs Everything," is aiming to shed light on the stories of Christians facing persecution in a number of countries around the world.
A number of prominent figures will participate in the event, including Francis Chan, former pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley, Calif., who regularly speaks at major Christian events and conferences nationwide and abroad.
"What we are doing is exposing the North American church to the persecution going on around the world to our brothers and sisters. We want you and your church to get a heart for these people, to care about them. They are suffering right now because they are being outspoken for the Gospel of Jesus Christ," Chan declares in a video promoting the simulcast of the documentary film.
Another speaker will be Congressman Frank Wolf, who has been the U.S. Representative for Virginia's 10th congressional district since 1981. Wolf is well known for his outspokenness on human rights and persecution issues around the world, including cases in Sudan, Iran and China.
According to a poster for the event published on In:Cast Events, the platform on which the simulcast will be hosted, there are 200 million Christians around the world currently facing persecution. "Though persecution is severe, the faithful continue to rise. The church is advancing. God's people are risking it all in the name of love, and it is worth it, because love costs everything," the poster reads.
"Daily, they risk their lives simply because they believe in Jesus. They could surrender, or convert, or quit, but the love of Jesus is worth the sacrifice. For many of them, this road leads to death," Chan says.
A spokesman for Voice of the Martyrs, a nonprofit, interdenominational organization with a vision for aiding Christians around the world who are facing persecution, shared with The Christian Post that the goal of the webcast is rather straight-forward – it is to bring to light the persecution believers in Christ are facing. Voice of the Martyrs is helping advertise the simulcast along with Christ in Youth, an organization that inspires young people with the Gospel by offering conferences, service projects, and mission trips.
The "Love Costs Everything" simulcast will air March 7 and 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET. Churches are encouraged to host simulcast events in their community, with pricing options through In:Cast starting at $249 for a group numbering up to 200 people.
