LPEA to Hold Fifth Evangelistic Festival in Argentina

The Luis Palau Evangelistic Association (LPEA) will hold its fifth festival in Argentina on Mar. 11 and 12.

The Luis Palau Evangelistic Association (LPEA) will hold its fifth festival in Argentina on Mar. 11 and 12. Following the success of Beachfest Argentina and other LPEA festivals in Argentina over the past four years, Festival Mendoza is aiming to be “a wide-open door of opportunity to shake Argentina for Jesus Christ.”

“We are thrilled to see God continue to open doors for us to proclaim the Good News throughout this hurting country,” the LPEA stated after the governor of the province invited the agency to return to Argentina for a festival in Mendoza. “We believe God has positioned Luis and our ministry to play a major role in the spiritual awakening taking place in Argentina today.”

According to the LPEA, only three percent of Mendoza’s population is evangelical. “Many pastors in Mendoza will tell you that although the people of Mendoza appear to have it all together, below the surface they are miserable,” LPEA reported. “They are dying for someone to tell them there is more to life than work, wine, family, and friends. Like most people in the world they are struggling and searching for meaning and purpose - the heart-fulfilling purpose that can only be found in Jesus Christ.”

However, LPEA does report that the spiritual climate is changing. “God is at work in Mendoza, and we believe He will use the festival to bring thousands into His kingdom. Local Christians, who can hardly believe their government is welcoming them to tell the city about Jesus Christ, are doing all they can to prepare for the festival, and unbelievers are waiting for our message.”

LPEA has asked for the Christian community to pray for the festival and “ask God to prepare the hearts of the thousands of people who will hear a clear presentation of the Gospel for the first time in their lives.”

According to the agency, tens of thousands of Argentines have committed their lives to Jesus Christ at past festivals. From Beachfest Argentina in 2004 with more than 310,000 in attendance to Buenos Aires Festival of Hope in 2003 with 1 million people, “the nation is showing its hunger for hope and a new beginning.”
