M.I.A. Answers Fan Questions Through Periscope, Says New Album to be Released in July [WATCH VIDEO]

After three years of waiting for a new album, fans will finally get to hear M.I.A.'s new LP in a couple of months.

"Matangi" was M.I.A.'s last album, which was released back in 2013. Though it has been a couple of years, M.I.A. has been busy working on other projects such as her title "Rewear It," which was used for the most recent H&M campaign "MIA OLA."

With that, M.I.A. tweeted last week that she was going to hand her 'last LP' to her American record label. Though it was bittersweet news, the artist was able to reach out to her fans through a Periscope Q&A, where she revealed the release date for the LP. However, she elaborated that she will not be able to promote or tour in the U.S. since her visa was denied. Because of this, her American fans will just have to enjoy her LP.

According to Pitchfork, M.I.A. also addressed some questions regarding her upcoming LP. She explained that the album will have 12 songs, not including the Disney track. Instead, it will include a track called "Galang" which will feature a sample of herself.

In addition, she said some insight about her upcoming album. She said, "[I realized] you can make a record that's happy about surviving. And not constantly talk about fight. At the end of the day, I feel like—maybe this is totally gibberish to everyone—but it's probably better to remind people about survival than it is about the moment you go to battle. Because that's just a moment."

However, M.I.A. explained that though she was planning to do a collaboration with Rihanna, the plans never came through. She said that it was due to their busy schedules. Nevertheless, fans can expect her album to release sometime this July.
