Mac Pro Release Date 2013: Computer to Launch Before End of Year
The new Mac Pro release date will be before the end of 2013.
Apple confirmed at its media event this afternoon that the computer will launch in the next few months and will cost $2999 for the base model.
The new Mac Pro will come in three different types including versions that include Quad 6, 8 or 12-core designs. The company only announced pricing for the lowest spec version which also comes with a 3.7GHz quad-core Xeon processor, 12GB or DRAM, Dual FirePro D300 graphics, 2GB VRAM, and a 256GB 22DD.
Apple stated that new versions of Final Cut Pro and Aperture that support 4K and other features of the new Mac Pro. The company also presented first impressions from professionals that have been using the machine.
The exterior design for the desktop features the appearance of a black cylinder that is 1/8 the volume of previous generation Mac Pros. Other specs for the device include HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, 802. 11 ac WiFi, up to 1TB of flash storage, and a motion sensor that lights up I/O when picking up the Mac Pro.
Apple also mentioned that they strived to make the new Mac Pro run as quietly as the current Mac Mini and was able to get pretty close to that goal. It will be manufactured in the U.S. as part of Apple's plan to bring manufacturing of some of its iMacs back to the states this year.
Apple held the event to introduce some of its other new products including the new full sized iPad and iPad mini 2. The company also announced that it will roll out its new OS X Mavericks software later today for free.
