MacBook Air Retina 2014 Delayed to 2015? Core M Chip Availability Needed
Now that the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and the Apple Watch have been released, fans of Apple are now looking forward to the next gadgets that will be launched by the Cupertino-based company. Aside from the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3, a new MacBook is reportedly in the works, namely the Macbook Air Retina.
The new MacBook is reported to be slimmer, and it will also have a Retina display just like its MacBook Pro predecessors. Apple is said to use Intel's new chip, the Core M, for this device, and this new processor is thought to be more powerful and efficient than other MacBooks. Moreover, it will not require a fan for cooling, so one can just imagine how thin this new device could be.
According to A Tech Website, the new MacBook Air will have a screen size of 12 inches, and a source of the website says that Apple is aiming for a 2015 launch sometime during the middle of the year. However, the source notes that plans could change as the notebook's launch date has been delayed several times already.
There have been previous reports that say that the new MacBook Air could be released by 2014, but the laptop's launch is said to be entirely dependent on the availability of the Core M chip. Macworld.co.uk reports that if the new chip is utilized, then the MacBook Air Retina could be available in time for Christmas this year.
A Tech Website also claims that the 12-inch MacBook Air will be available in three different colors—slate gray, silver, and gold. If there is any truth to this rumor, then this will be the first time that the MacBooks will be available in other colors apart from the usual aluminum gray.
