Apple and Microsoft Going Head-to-Head with Their Newest Laptop Devices

Apple's MacBook Pro 2016 and the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 are rumored to be released this year, and the models are being compared side by side to see which is better.

Fans and critics alike have been spelling out their predictions for the laptops online. Microsoft's Surface Pro 5 considerably costs less than MacBook Pro 2016, but with regard to the Windows and MacOS operating systems, they will attract different types of consumers according to their needs.

According to Tech Times, the MacBook Pro 2016 will have notable features including Touch ID fingerprint scanning, the newest Skylake processors, USB-C ports and NFC chip technology. The OLED display just above the keyboard will be equipped with butterfly keys, and it is rumored that the MacBook Pro 2016 will have a 2304x1440 display.

The MacBook Pro 2016 will likely have a lighter and slimmer build than its predecessors. It is expected to have 13-inch and 15-inch models.

Furthermore, the presence of Intel's Skylake processors will make it powerful as the chip works well together with El Capitan OS. With MacBook Pro 2016 running smoothly, this means that it will have a longer battery life and high-quality graphics, which could mean better gameplay.

The MacBook Pro is rumored to be released at the last quarter of the year, specifically just before the Christmas season. Other reports say that it might be launched on September this year together with the iPhone 7. Apple has not released an official word for the release dates.

As for the price, Tech Radar noted that the recent MacBook Pro series cost $1,099 for the 13-inch version, $1,119 for the Retina 13-inch version and $2,099 for the Retina 15-inch version. The price range could more or less be the same, if not higher.

As for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, it will be similar to the past ones before it. It will still have the tablet body and keyboard base where users can install the add-on in.

According to Neurogadget, Surface Pro 5 will be released in 2017 and will come with the new Intel Kaby Lake chips and the Windows 10 Redstone 2 operating system. However, there have been other reports that Surface Pro 5 will be released earlier as the Kaby Lake processors will be launched at the end of this year.

The installment of the Intel Kaby Lake chips will make the Microsoft device able to support the USB 3.1, VP9 10-bit, HDCP 2.2 and HEVC Main 10/10-bit. It will also be available in two screen resolutions, 2K and 4K.

As for the price, the Surface Pro 5 might have a similar price range with its predecessor. The Surface Pro 4 line's price ranges from $900 to $2000 depending on the specs.
